Europe House, the host for many AEJ UK meetings, invites AEJ members and others to a lecture on how trade, particularly with China and ASEAN countries, can improve economic growth in the UK.

The European Parliament Liaison Office and the Trustees of the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation on January 8 will host the Westminster Lecture on “The Power of Trade: Focus on China & ASEAN” by Labour MP Liam Byrne, former chief secretary to the treasury and minister for the cabinet office, and currrently chair of the Commons business and trade select Committee.

The European Parliament office notes that he is one of Westminster’s most experienced voices on economic strategy and international trade” and “drawing on decades of political and economic insight, Liam will explore how the UK can drive domestic growth by deepening trade relationships — particularly with rapidly evolving markets in China and the ASEAN region.
“In a world of shifting geopolitical alliances and economic rebalancing, this talk offers a timely and practical look at how Britain can find opportunity on the global stage.”
