The AEJ UK will get an updated view of Ukraine in a lunchtime meeting on November 28.
Olena Sotnyk, an advisor to Ukraine’s deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration and senior representative in Kyiv of Rasmussen Global, will assess the state of the war on the ground and Ukraine’s military and social resilience, the government’s diplomatic quest for peace and long-term international security guarantees, and her insights into possible direct talks with Russia about a mutual “limited restraint” agreement to suspend attacks on for example power plants, as well as growing international pressures to hasten some kind of longer-term truce.
As a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from 2014 to 2019, Sotnyk was chair of the parliamentary sub-committee on approximation of Ukrainian law to EU law, and has worked as a politician and lawyer on human rights, the rule of law, judicial system reform, anti-corruption, European integration, and youth policy.
She is a member of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
AEJ UK lunchtime meetings at London’s Regent’s University are open to journalists, academics and Europe specialists and guests with pre-registration by email to cas.jenkins@gmail.com
